Kathy Burke interview

Colin Lane is one half of Lano and Woodley. He answered this interview in January 2002, but I did not receive it back until February the 5th. Unfortunately it took me almost 3 months to put it up.

How did you feel when you found out you got a contract with the ABC to film "The Adventures of Lano and Woodley"?

Well what can I say (This is Colin talking by the way) It was brilliant. And we decided to go with the ABC for two main reasons: 1. They agreed to give us complete creative control and 2. We didnıt get any other offers.

What was it like to appear on All Star Squares together?

I was a bit pissed off that we didnıt get separate squares. I donıt know whether you know, but Frank smells a bitSSin fact most people change there clothes when they get smellyS..he changes them when they get sticky.

Where did the idea for "Slick" come from?

We had done a number of narrative shows and decided weıd try a cabaret type show. Unfortunately the first posters we got printed were a little cramped so it instead of saying "lano and Woodley are Slick!!! It said "Lano and Woodley ARESLICK"

How did it feel to be the biggest act to appear at the first ever (and only) Perth Comedy Season?

It was an honour.

How often do you actually see each other?

We only see each other when weıre working really. A lot of people had this weird idea that we actually lived together. Some people even thought we had a relationship going. That isnıt true. Although when we fight we like to make up by walking along the beach talking and holding hands.

What can you tell me about your new show for the 2002 Melbourne Comedy Festival?

The new show for Melbourne is a show called GLITZY and itıs an extravaganza of thrills , spills, songs and laughs aplenty. (Actually I donıt know what itıs aboutSSSwe havenıt written it yet)

What was it like to host the Gala at 2000's comedy festival?

It was great. What can I say? Just a great pleasure to host such a great nite of stuff for a good cause. Although itıs always hard hosting an evening of comedy because if the audience doesnıt like you the first time you come outS..itıs too bad, you have to come out again and again and hope things improve.

How did you really feel being on after Novak 'n Goode at Perth's opening galah?

They were one of the weirdest acts Iıve ever seen. Nobody could ever accuse them of beign half hearted with their choice of stuff or their intensity.

Where is your favourite place to perform?

Basically anywhere where people will come and see us really. I know it sounds sucky but if anybody wants to come and sit and laugh at our stupid stuffS weıll go anywhere.

Are there any more TV appearances coming up?

Not really doing much in the near future but I think Frank is so skinny he could easily get a part as the weather pointer on the news.
